The holidays are upon us already! If you’re like us, you might feel like they snuck up on you unawares. But that’s OK. Start With Your Walls
Pantone called for two trending colors for 2021, and if you haven’t added them to your home, you can perk up your walls quickly by doing so now. To make the mix of colors work, pick one focal point and add accents to complement it. Choose one wall to paint a trendy bright yellow, and then transform the whole look by adding complementary artwork in cool neutrals or grays. You can mix the type of art you use, including holiday-specific pieces and day-to-day décor.
Winter in the Desert
For many in the U.S., the holiday season means winter and cold. Of course, here in Phoenix, we don’t really get a lot of snow…but that doesn’t mean we can’t bring in a wintery feel to our homes! You can add some rustic décor like comfy accent pillows and throw blankets to bring in that cozy feel, and be sure they have different textures and patterns to create an aura reminiscent of a mountain lodge.
Lighting Can Be the Key
A holiday scene is best highlighted by, well, light. Add dimmable LED lights to bring a warm, cozy feel a room, and use candles (either old-school match-lit candles or battery-powered, programmable flameless ones) to set the evening mood. In the daytime, your window coverings can help set the holiday, wintry scene.
