A Room’s Focal Point

Silhouette® Window Shadings & Drapery Panels

Because a window is often the brightest spot in the room—and because it has a strong vertical line—it is frequently the focal point, the place the eye is drawn to as soon as you enter the room. Which means that the treatments on a window can really make or break the entire look of the room. At Altra Home Décor serving the greater Phoenix area, we know how important a good first impression is when it comes to window treatments as a focal point, so we take great care to ensure that our customers get just what they need in terms of style, function, and budget. Things to Consider Regarding Window Fashions

With something as important as window fashions, getting it right the first time is critical. That’s why we suggest some things to consider as you treat each window. First, be sure to treat the window last. Treat its function (such as lighting control) first, and then add stylistic elements if you want or need to. Next, if you treat the window before you furnish the room, you’re likely to over treat the window. Also remember that, once you have treated the window, it is easy to add to it, but if you put a lot on the window all at once, it could be expensive to change. Approach treating the window as though it were the frame to a painting. The heavier the treatment, the harder it is for a person to see the other design elements in the area. The lighter or lesser a treatment is, the easier it is for a person to see the other room elements. Finally, before adding color on a window, add fabric in the color you are thinking about, and live with it for a week or so before you make your decision. That way, you’ll see how light interacts with the color and how the color interacts with the room. It’s easier to remove a swatch of fabric than it is to find a whole new treatment if you decide the color doesn’t work.
