Color Inspiration

Pantone Classic Blue

At Altra Home Décor here in Phoenix, we know that many people are intimidated by choosing color—they’re afraid of choosing the “wrong” one or they can’t think of what a color might look like in their home. Luckily, each year, the Pantone Color Institute provides inspiration in the form of identifying a Color of the Year. And this year is no different. Read on to learn what the color is for 2020—like it or hate it, you might be inspired either way.

And the Color of the Year Is…

Classic Blue! Reminiscent of the sky at dusk, Classic blue brings us full circle to the first Color of the Year, Cerulean, another blue hue, which was chosen in 1999. It offers the confidence, reassurance, and connection that people are searching for in uncertain times. “It’s a color that anticipates what’s going to happen next,” said Laurie Pressman, the vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “Imbued with a deep resonance, Classic Blue provides an anchoring foundation.”

About Pantone Color Institute

Each year, the Pantone Color Institute predicts what will be the trending color for the year. Pantone’s color of the year often sets the stage for trends in fashion, window treatments, wall coverings, and interior design. Selecting the Color of the Year takes approximately nine months. The staff at PANTONE explores a variety of industries to collect what they refer to as “proof points.” They review the latest from the auto industry, designer runways, and interior decorating showcases. Once they identify the trends, they narrow down the choices. “The Pantone Color of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today,” said Pressman.
