Michael called Altra Home décor because he wanted to protect his home against the harsh Phoenix sun and heat, but not lose his view of the golf course. The view was one of the primary reasons he and his family moved to the Moon Valley Golf course area.
Hunter Douglas Designer Screen Shades Provide Cool Living
After looking a variety of options, it was decided that Hunter Douglas Designer Screen Shades in Empire Fabric with 3% weave openness would fit the bill perfectly. We discussed all the operating options available, but it was clear the family wanted to add PowerView™ Motorization to all the shades.

Throughout the house, all the screen shades were linked were linked to a Poweview™ Hub and integrated into their home automation system. We placed mini Apple iPads in each room to control the screen shades, as well as surface mounted remotes. The hub easily found each shade. Then scenes were programmed by the AV specialist hired to integrate the home.
The install was challenging because door handles protruded about 3”. Also some areas were too large for one shade, so two shades were butted together. To make it a clean looking install, we replaced the Hunter Douglas valances with a plywood valance we painted to match the rest of the molding. This allowed us to mount the shades to the wood and pull them forward enough to clear the door handles. We were also able to join the larger valances together with a clean simple band, so they appear to be one piece.
