The newest in the countertops family is quartz, also called engineered stone. Quartz has many advantages. It is comprised of crushed quartz and a resin – this makes quartz an incredibly strong surface. It is almost maintenance free, unlike traditional granite, quartz does not need to be resealed annually.
Quartz countertops are twice as strong as granite, less porous, stain and bacteria resistant. Because of this quartz countertops are certified by the NSF International for use as a food preparation surface.
