The newest in the countertops family is quartz, also called engineered stone. Quartz has many advantages. It is comprised of crushed quartz and a resin – this makes quartz an incredibly strong surface. This resin also makes a countertop that is not porous like granite. It is almost maintenance free. Unlike traditional granite, quartz does not need to be resealed – ever!
Quartz countertops are twice as strong as granite, less porous, stain and bacteria resistant. Because of this, quartz countertops are certified by the NSF International for use as a food preparation surface. We are proud dealers for Caesarstone, Silestone as well as Cambria – the only quartz countertops proudly made in the United States.
Cambria has continued to raise the bar in the quartz arena and continues to improve their line to include countertops that look like high end stone. With over 100 colors to choose from, there is sure to be one that is perfect for your kitchen or bath.
There is more consistency in color and movement from slab to slab in quartz which makes it easier to match and blend seams. It is priced similar to a mid level granite, so it is not always a less expensive option as people often think.
